The NorthWord
NorthWord is a daily Christian podcast from St. John's Fort Smith in collaboration with the Anglican Family. Hosted by Father Aaron from Fort Smith, Northwest Territories.
Here's how it works: Every Sunday we release the full sermon preached that morning. Then Monday through Saturday, you get 3-5 minute daily reflections based on that sermon - one thought you can actually use each day. Every Wednesday we explore the rhythm of Jesus' life and how his followers have lived it out for 2,000 years.
Whether you're Pentecostal, Orthodox, Baptist, Catholic, or just curious about faith - this is for you. Ancient faith. Real life. No fluff.
The Word. The North. Your Week.

Two words in Romans 6 carry the weight of the entire gospel — "but now." Father Aaron pauses at the midpoint of the week to sit with the turn Paul makes, and to ask: which side of "but now" are you living on today?
Good morning. This is Northword.
SPEAKER_00We're in the middle of the week, and Paul has two words just for you. Good morning, this is Northword. The Word, the North, your Week, a daily podcast from St. John's Fort Smith in collaboration with the Anglican family. I'm your host, Father Aaron. Happy Wednesday. We're in the midpoint of the week. And we've talked about slavery to sin. We've talked about the mind shaft going down into the darkness and our eyes adjusting to that darkness. And there's two words that Paul says in the text. Paul is clear. We've been set free. We've experienced slavery to sin, but now in Jesus we're set free. That's the turn, that's the hinge. Not try harder, not do better, not fight sin more. But a different word has been spoken over your life. A different master has entered the picture. The middle of the week is a good time to ask yourself. Which side of but now am I living on? Am I living on the sin side, or but now you've been saved in Jesus Christ? Not theologically, but practically today. Are you still reaching for the old? Still drinking the salt water that never, ever will satisfy your thirst? Or are you, even slowly, even imperfectly, turning your face towards your new master? You don't have to have it figured out by Wednesday. None of us do. But the direction matters, and the direction can shift today. Right now. This has been Northword the Word, the North, your week, a daily podcast from St. John's Fort Smith, in collaboration with the Anglican family. Follow us wherever you get your podcasts, share this with a friend, and use the text us link in the description to let us know how your journey is coming along. We'd love to hear from you. SPEAKER_01In the name of Fower, the Sun and the Holy Spirit. Amen.
