The NorthWord
NorthWord is a daily Christian podcast from St. John's Fort Smith in collaboration with the Anglican Family. Hosted by Father Aaron from Fort Smith, Northwest Territories.
Here's how it works: Every Sunday we release the full sermon preached that morning. Then Monday through Saturday, you get 3-5 minute daily reflections based on that sermon - one thought you can actually use each day. Every Wednesday we explore the rhythm of Jesus' life and how his followers have lived it out for 2,000 years.
Whether you're Pentecostal, Orthodox, Baptist, Catholic, or just curious about faith - this is for you. Ancient faith. Real life. No fluff.
The Word. The North. Your Week.

Good morning. This is North Rush.
SPEAKER_00The gap between seeking and striving can be closed by a single decision. What is one thing that would move you one step further? Good morning, this is Northword, the Word, the North Your Week, a daily podcast from St. John's Fort Smith in collaboration with the Anglican family. I'm your host, Father Aaron. Today's episode is brought to you by the Northern Store, a cornerstone of Fort Smith, essential goods and a genuine commitment to this community. Here is the thing about striving: it does not require perfection, it requires intention. It does not require you have it all figured out. It requires that you move. Paul says in Philippians, I press on towards the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus. Press on, not drift, not coast, press. The Christian life is active. It requires something from you. Movement. Choice. Direction. But here's the thing that might help. You do not have to make the whole commitment today. You do not have to see the entire path. You just have to take one step. What is one way you have been seeking but not striving? Is it a relationship you are avoiding, a decision you are putting off, a commitment you are hesitating toward? What is one thing that would move you one step further into the Christian life? Not ten steps, not the whole journey, one. Commit to that one thing. Then, when you have done it, commit to the next one. That is how striving works. Not a heroic leap, but a faithful step and then another and then another. The good news is that the God you are striving toward is also striving toward you. The father in the parable of the prodigal son did not walk toward his son, he ran. You strive toward him, he runs to meet you. That changes the odds, but you still have to make that move. This has been Northward, the Word, the North Your Week, a daily podcast from St. John's Fort Smith in collaboration with the Anglican family. What is one step you need to take? Not ten, but one. Take it today. And when you're done taking that step, use the text us link to reach out and leave us a review wherever you are listening to this podcast. Those reviews help us reach more and more people with the Word of God. This started out as a St. John's podcast and became a Fort Smith podcast. And just the other day I got a message from somebody in PEI, and I got a message from somebody in Vancouver, and I got a message from somebody in Japan who are enjoying this podcast, which is amazing. So thank you for your support. And go ahead and use the review option and wherever you're listening to your podcast right now to help us reach more and more people. And until tomorrow, may God be with you.
